Whatcom County Conservation

WELCOME!

This website has been designed by Whatcom County with two goals in mind. The first goal is to serve as a resource for public organizations that wish to learn about sustainability-related issues and efforts, especially as they consider implementing their own programs. The second goal of this web site is to provide the public with a central place where they can learn about the practices that are being implemented in their community.

These pages contain summaries of the conservation-related programs that exist in public organizations in Whatcom County. Some examples of this include LEED certification of public buildings, incentives for “green” development within the county, adoption of biodiesel fuel for fleet vehicles, paper and energy conservation programs, and establishment of plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

We hope that you find this site to be helpful and informative. If you have any questions about a specific topic, feel free to email the contact person for each project. If you have questions about the site itself, or would like to add your organization’s initiative to this site, please contact us at conservation@co.whatcom.wa.us.
